What is a Docket?

A docket is typically a piece of paper, often from a triplicate book that is exchanged onsite as proof of work or proof of delivery.  There are hundreds of thousands of these pieces of paper exchanged on work sites and other places every day.  They waste thousands of hours every day onsite and when they go missing payment is delayed and processing costs spiral.

Orders, Jobs & Dockets - a simple structure for organising your data

The core parts of the Docketbook platform are Dockets, Orders and Jobs. 

Dockets

Dockets are the direct replacement for the paper proof of work or delivery.  They are created by the person on the ground and accepted by the site representative onsite.

Orders

Orders are the equivalent to a Purchase Order between customer and supplier.  They provide the framework for Dockets created onsite including rules such as what items can be included on the docket, customer and supplier details and even the layout of the docket itself.

You don't have to use Orders to use Docketbook.

Jobs

Jobs can be used to break an Order into smaller pieces of work and assign to docket creators to further simplify the docket creation process (e.g. line items are automatically added to dockets).

Together Orders, Jobs and Dockets provide a powerful framework for keeping your documentation organised.

Exchanging Stuff... in the cloud

Essentially, this is what Docketbook is all about.  Orders, Jobs and Dockets are created and sent to others who can then Accept/Reject the items and use simple workflow between suppliers and customers.

By exchanging structured data, we save everyone heaps of time.  And, in business, that's a precious commodity!
